As an organization dedicated to the improving people practices in business, we set out to see what works. There are dozens of practices being implemented to address topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. One of the challenges companies face is the sheer volume of noise in this space. There are hundreds of books, training
companies, website, and organizations dedicated to DEI. Each of them claims that their particular solution works. But do they?
1. How much does DEI training, recruitment, practices, employee resource groups, and many other DEI
interventions add value?
2. The 5 most powerful strategies to drive inclusion and diversity come from the business strategy, not HR programs. When the business has the right focus, the HR practices add value.
3. Why doing promoting DEI in isolation will have very little or no long-lasting impact.
Presented by- Pamela Richardson MJ, MBA

Voted Who’s Who in Diversity’s Most Intriguing, Pam brings 10 years of Diversity, Equity and inclusion (DEI) leadership to HCA Healthcare’s South Atlantic and North Florida divisions. She arrived at HCA from her role at Boeing as Senior Global Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Site Leader where she oversaw all expects of DEI at the Charleston, SC location. She also held a similar role as Director of Talent and Inclusion at Dot Foods, North America’s largest food industry redistributor where she oversaw the Inclusion and Diversity initiative corporate-wide.
As a seasoned business strategist, she weighs in on succession planning, talent management & recruitment, socially responsible marketing, training, and many other culture aspects. She has launched several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and created playbooks for them to follow. Pam knows that to change organizational behavior once awareness is accomplished, you have to have a systems-level change rooted in accountability. She has crafted policy changes and training across all locations. While leading DEI efforts, Pam stepped into a dual role as Director of Personnel and managed warehouse trainers, the warehouse clerk’s office, and all new hires at the corporate location.
With a background in corporate DEI, change management and leadership, her career expands over several industries including healthcare, and finance, telemedicine, health law, business development, and accessibility & inclusion. Pam engaged in legislative advocacy with legislators on either the state or federal level in an attempt to influence laws and policies aimed at creating broader telemedicine regulations that allowed for reimbursement of virtual care.
Pam holds an MBA with emphasis in Human Resources from William Woods University, a Master of Jurisprudence degree in Health Law from Loyola Chicago School of Law, and a Business of Administration degree from Columbia College. She has served as keynote speaker, on distinguished executive panels, and received numerous awards including the St. Louis American Business Excellence Award, St. Louis Business Journal Diverse Business Leader Award, and Who’s Who in Diversity Most Intriguing. Pam has served on the boards of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and the executive board of the St. Louis Zoo. She currently serves on the board of Williams and Associates and Palmetto SHRM Board.
